Diabetes Detection Drive

Similar drives had been held in Auckland for several years, said Mr Blain. The meeting also agreed to recommend to the incoming committee that consideration be given to the establishment of organised holidays for the elderly diabetic, a common feature in diabetes associations overseas. “This could well be a feature of our work and with proper supervision and planning could give these people the ooportunity of enjoying a holiday and visiting those places they would not attempt on their own," said Mr Blain. Mr Blain said that the most significant event of the year was the establishment of the Diabetes Research Fellowship and the start of the work by the appointee, Dr C. J. LovellSmith. "Meinbers of this society can be proud of the fact that by their magnificent work and co-operation in fundraising efforts for the fellowship. their work has been an outstanding example to all other members of the national association," he said. ■
