RIOTS IN JAPAN
P.M.'s Home Attacked f N.Z.PA.-Reuter—Copyright TOKYO, April 28 About 100 students today attacked with stones the private home of the Japanese Prime Minister (Mr Eisaku Sato) during demonstrations by Left-wingers against American control of the island of Okinawa. Most Government buildings in Tokyo were closed and surrounded by barriers of wire-netting and police cordons. and in the city centre
alone 12.000 police were on riot duty. The Prime Minister, who is 67. was at home when 100 .students, wearing red hel[mets. rushed up and hurled stones at a specially reinforced police guard and at the residence itself. In another incident, 10 miles away, about 500 students clashed with the police, who had tried to disperse them with tear-gas and water hoses while they were demonstrating near Meiji University.
Earlier today, six Leftist students slipped past guard* at a United States military billeting complex in Tokyo and unfurled from the roof five red banners demanding an end to American control ,of Okinawa. All six students were arrested.
