Two Killed By Blast

(N .Z.P A.-Reuter—Copy right * SAIGON, April 28. Two people were killed and 66 injured and 2000 houses were destroyed or damaged when a United States ammunition dump exploded accidentally yesterday in the northern military city of Da Nang. About 20,000 people were forced to leave their wooden houses in the area of the explosion. The inferno was caused by a high wind which whipped up a grass fire begun by burning rubbish, some of which was blown into the ammunition dump two miles south-west of Da Nang. Many of the shanty homes were flattened like a pack of cards by fierce blasts from the exploding dump. Firemen brought the blaze under control shortly after midnight. They had been unable to approach the dump for hours because of the danger of exploding bullets and shells.

Da Nang's huge airfield, serving the military complex, was closed except for emergency flights until dawn. •
