WELLINGTON, Mar. 19.
The Medical Association of New Zealand has approached the Minister of Health and officers of the Division of Mental Health to obtain more protection in law for practitioners who certify people for committal. It has asked that the Government and the department consider the question of granting medical practitioners qualified privilege under mental health legislation.
