TWO 17-year-old youths, who asneared before the Children’s Court during February charged with burglary, unlawful taking of a vehicle and escaping from custody, were sentenced to Borstal training, and a M-yaar. old vouth who was charged With 'unlawfully taking a car was sentenced to the detention centre A 16-year-old youth who appeared'on charges of driving under the influence of drink or drugs, assault, disorderly behaviour and obscene language, was placed on probation for three years and disqualified from driving for four years. Another 16-year-old youth who was charged with burglary, and four aged 15 and M who appeared on charges of theft, were each placed on probation for IS months. A girl aged IS, charged with theft, unlawfully getting into a car and escaping from lawful custody, and a boy aged I3 '. w , h9 w »s charged with unlawful sexual intercourse, were also placed on probation tor 18 months. Indigent Children Two baby boys and a boy aged 11, who appeared on complaints that they were indigent Children, were committed to

the care of the Superintendent of Child Welfare, as were two b®ys aged five and 13 and a girl aged 14 who were found to be not under proper control. Also committed to care were a boy aged four and a girl aged live found to be living tn an environment detrimental to their physical well-being.

Four girls, aged 15 to 17, charged with escaping from lawful custody, were admonished and returned to the care of Superintendent of Child Welfare. A similar decision was given in the case of a youth aged 16 charged with burglary, and a boy aged 15 and a girl aged 16 charged with theft.
