trotting Selwyn Hanover Shows Dash At Addington

A dashing 12 furlongs by Selwy n Hanover was the highlight of training work at Addington Raceway yesterday. Most of the horses were restricted to fairly easy work in perfect conditions and sound efforts were returned by Markalan, Doctor Scott, Spry and Stylos.

Selwyn Hanover made the pace and was kept back to Alandria and Bright Frost, both of which finished boldly, at the end of 12 furlongs in 3:15 2-5, the last halfmile in 1:2 2-5, and the final quarter in 29 3-5. The run should bring all three to their peak for Saturday.

race for probationary drivers. Stylos, which lost a fair amount of skin when she fell recently on the road, seemed to hit out quite freely over 12 furlongs in 3min 19 4-ssec, the last half-mile in Imin 4 4-ssee, and the final quarter in 31 l-ssec. She looks particularly well and should be a sound prospect in the iEaster Cup heats. Doctor Scott was trotting i easily alongside Aerial Morn, a three-year-old by Morano | from Aerial Brigade, at the ’ end of 12 furlongs. They took 2min 49sec for the final 10 ■furlongs, the last quarter in 131 3-ssec. Doctor Scott was eliminated from the Spreydon Handicap on Saturday. Logan Prince and Office Boy took 3min 25 2-ssec for 112 furlongs, the last half-mile in Imin Bsec. Both look to be coming to hand well. Office Boy is in the New Zea-

Solo Run Sprv worked well within himself over 12 furlongs in 3min 16 3-ssec, the last half-mile in Imin 4 l-ssec, and the final quarter in 31 3-ssec. He looks particularly well. Cathpete was going easily alongside Claudia Hanover and Willow Brae at the end of their work-out. They took 2min IS l-ssec for their last mile, the final quarter in 32 3-ssec. Goodray and Major Bright finished together at the end of 12 furlongs in 3min 22sec, the last half-mile in Imin 1 l-ssec. and the final quarter in 30 3-ssec. Goodray was eliminated from the Fendalton Handicap. He is working extremely well at present and could surprise later at the meeting. Markalan worked lazily throughout his 12 furlongs in 3min 17sec, the last half-mile in Imin ssec, and the final quarter in 32sec. He blew fairly hard afterwards and is certain to be. improved as a result of the run. He is the probable favourite for the Stewards’ Handicap on Saturday. Trampus worked easily throughout two miles in 4min 40 l-ssec. He went at a fairly etfen pace, recording 34 l-ssec for his last quarter. He was driven by M. Hessey, who will handle him in the Fendalton Handicap on Saturday. He will be strongly supported after his second to Bragen in the Cheviot Cup last Saturday.

-Msec. Logan Count looks in great heart. Bright Adios (Dick Adios— Paye) and Melton Range (Fallacy—Bonny Venture) strode easily over 10 furlongs in 2min 45sec, finishing with a sprint over the final quarter in 33sec. Both look capable of qualifying in the next few weeks.

Selwyn Hanover is in the second heat of the Easter Cup, the first leg of the T.A.B. double. After his splendid run at last week's trials he is certain to be among the favourites.

Alandria will be opposed by a strong field in the Rat-’ tray Handicap, a race in i which she will start from the aeeond line. Bright Frost'

Most Promising Hushabye and Lord Devon, a two-year-old by Goodland from Filament, took 2min 22sec for one mile, the final quarter in 33 2-ssec. The inexperienced Lord Devon looks a most promising young pacer. Logan Count and Logan Park were trotting well at the end
