Germans Reconsider Games Decision
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) KASSEL (West Germany). The West German Athletics Federation is reconsidering its decision to send a team of athletes to the all-white South African Games, a federation spokesman said yesterday.
“Some reflection has be-! come necessary after several! European federations have | withdrawn their teams. We! are reconsidering the situa-i tion,” he said.
The decision would be made ! within the next few days. A West German team of 10 to 15 athletes is scheduled to ■I participate in the games, which opened in Bloemfontein yesterday. The German team is to compete in Potchefstroam on March 29 and in several other events Within the games, which are to end on April 19. The African Sports Council in Nairobi has sent telegrams to the International Olympic Committee and to the West ' German Olympic Committee ■protesting against West Geri many’s scheduled participation in the games. Dr M. Danz, chairman of the West German federation, said that neither of the committees were competent in the matter and it was the concern of his federation.
