Blood Donors Sought
A drive to recruit more ! blood donors for the Blood Transfusion Service is to be held in New Brighton on Saturday. Mr A. T. Sindlen, secretary of the service, said yesterday that numbers were so low that it was necessary to call on some donors as often as four times a year. Ideally, they should be asked to give blood only twice a year. To achieve this, the Christchurch roll of more than 4000 would have to be increased by 2000. Mr Sindlen said this was the first recruitment campaign for many years. Organised by the New Brighton Jaycees, the drive would be run from a tent near the mall in Seaview Road. The tent would be manned by Jaycees and Blood Bank staff. No tests would be taken and no blood would be taken, said Mr Sindlen. Prospective donors would be asked to fill in a form and make an appointment.
