WELLINGTON, Mar. 18.
Pitcairn Island, with its population of 82, will soon have its first New Zealand volunteer workers. Mr and Mrs David Vosper, of Nelson, left Auckland today in the Amalric for a year under the Volunteer Service Abroad scheme. Mr Vosper, aged 23, is an A-grade mechanic. On Pitcairn he will give instruction in the maintenance and operation of the island’s machinery, including marine engines, motor-cycles, lathes and a stone-crusher. Mrs Vosper will assist the medical officer in the island’s dispensary, and will help at the 14-pupi] school and the post office.
