(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. In a close game, Auckland A beat Wellington A, 4-3, when the Rothmans sponsored New Zealand water polo championships, continued at the Newmarket Pool yesterday. A last-second penalty by I. Patchett gave Auckland victory. Results:—
Wellington A 3, Waikato 2; Canterbury 6, Wellington B 0; Otago 5, Auckland B 1; Auckland A 3, St George (Sutherland) B 3: Waikato 9, Manawatu 6; Wellington B beat Hawke’s Bay-Poverty Bay by default; St George (Sutherland) A 6, Auckland B 5: Auckland A 4, Wellington A 3: Wellington B 4, St George (Sutherland) A 3.
