Whisky And Milk

Sir, —I would be interested to know if trust hotels are required under the licensing laws to supply milk for whisky on request by a customer. Recently I have called with friends at varoius privately-owned hotels and on every occasion have been supplied with milk for a whisky. However, last week I had occasion to call at a trust hotel and asked for whisky and milk. I was told by the barman that milk was not served in the bar. Could I have demanded that milk be served?—Yours, etc., JOHNNY WALKER. February 13, 1969. [Mr E. M. Basil-Jones, secretary of the Licensing Control Commission, replies: “This matter is one to be taken up with the hotel manager and is a matter of administration as there is no provision in the Sale of Liquor Act, 1962, whereby a patron can demand that milk be served with whisky.”]
