West Melton District Horticultural Show
Entries generally were good for the summer show of the West Melton District Horticultural Society. There were 1230 entries compared with 1424 in 1968. The judges commented on the high standard of cut flowers, fruit and vegetables entered.
Mr D. G. Wylie gained most points at the show, and the runner-up was Mrs W. Meager, who also exhibited the premier bloom. Mrs W. Frizzell gained highest honours for a decorative exhibit while Mrs G. Walker exhibited the most outstanding piece of needlework.
Results of the show are: Pot Plants.—Most points: Mrs H. J. Curragh; runner-up, Mrs Y. Eastmond.
Cut Flowers. —Most points: Mrs W. Meager; runner-up, D. S. Bowles. Roses: Mrs N. K. Calder: runner-up, Mrs F. D. Robinson. Dahlias: Mrs W. Meager; run-ner-up, D. Sharp. Sweet peas: D. G. Wylie. Gladioli: D. S. Bowles. Fuchsias: Mrs W. Meager. Special class: L. J. Manson.
