Power Board Resignation

(from Our Own Reporter? TIMARU, February 24. Mr N. S. Brown, deputy chairman of the South Canterbury Electric Power Board ■■ since 1965, has resigned. Mr Brown, who has been farming at Totara Valley for 15 years, has sold his property and will leave for Wellington early in March. He has been appointed Wellington manager of Gough, , Gough, and Hamer, Ltd. Mr Brown has been a memj ber of the New Zealand • : National Party for many ‘ i years and has held executive positions in the Waitaki electorate, Otago-Southland diviI sion, Ashburton electorate, I and Canterbury-Westland diviI sion of the National Party. I In 1966 he stood as < I National Party candidate for | Timaru. J \ He has served 13 years on the Power Board, is chairman . of the public relations board of control, was on the meat and wool section of the South - Canterbury executive of Federated Farmers, and was pre- . sident of the South Canter- » bury Trustee Savings Bank in its early stages. He is still : a trustee. Mr Brown represented the i Power Board on the, South - (Canterbury regional ctfordin- ‘ ating committee, and also represented South Canterbury J ‘on the Mount Cook develop- , ment committee of the South ■ Island Publicity Association.
