Brazil Having Easy Time

"The Press” Special Service WANGANUI. The farm-trained Brazil, which dominated the three-year-old fillies scene earlier this summer, is unlikely to race again this season, according to her part-owner-trainer, Mr L. Georgetti, of Marton. Brazil was hampered by hard mid-summer tracks and this led to a loss of form as her heels became very tender. She still has jarred joints and is undertaking the lightest of training programmes.

“We don’t intend to knock her about and want to save her for next season,” said Mr Georgetti/ who races the filly in partnership with his son.

Earlier this season Brazil won the Gold Trail Stakes, Desert Gold Stakes. New Zealand Oaks, and Great Northern Oaks, and was considered by many unlucky not to beat Bardall in the Great Northern Derby. The $12,000 earned in the process places her fifth among the season’s stake-winners.

Mr Georgetti also said he had retired Havering, which has failed to show her best form this season.

Havering s most notable win was in the Cuddle Stakes at Trentham last season.
