Vandals Cast Off Moorings

Vandals cast off the moorings from two vessels at Lyttelton early yesterday morning. The Lyttelton Harbourmaster (Captain D. Holden) said later that a serious view was taken of this practice, which was a dangerous one. The two vessels were both laid up and out of commission. i They were the 300-ton, steel-hulled trawler Taimoana 1, berthed at No. 5 East Wharf, and the 215-ton, wooden-hulled motor vessel Toa, berthed at the breastwork adjacent to No. 6 and No. 7 wharves. Neither vessel was damaged. The Lyttelton police are investigating.

Timber Study.— Forty Australians arrived in Auckland yesterday to study the use of New Zealand Oregon in the building industry. The visit of five days, has been arranged by the export committee cf the New Zealand Sawmills’ Association.—(P.A.)
