FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—An anticyclone centred to the south-east of New Zealand extends across the country. Forecast: .

Canterbury, Kaikoura Coast.—Northeasterlies about the coast mainly moderate but fresh at times in some exposed places; cloudy skies and some patches of morning drizzle; light variable winds inland, fine apart from some morning fog areas; mild day temperatures.

Marlborough Sounds.—Fresh south-east-erly winds possibly decreasing slight today; fine with moderate temperatures. Central Marlborough, Nelson.—East to north-east winds mainly moderate but strong in exposed northern parts of Nelson; a few Scattered cloudy areas at times, otherwise fine and mild.

Buller, Westland.—Light to moderate variable winds; scattered areas of fog or lojv cloud at first this morning but otherwise fine; rather warm in the afternoon. Outlook. —All districts: improving. CHRISTCHURCH READINGS
