N.Z. CONTENT IN VEHICLES

New Targets ‘’Negotiable’ (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 21. Targets for increased New Zealand content in motor vehicles built in the country were “negotiable and under discussion with importing companies,” the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) said today.

Speaking to reporters after the morning session of the Government caucus, he said this point had been stressed to Government members of Parliament by the Minister of Industries and Commerce (Mr Marshall). Intensive investigation of all aspects was being carried out.

There had been some criticism concerning the targets but this was based largely on “misunderstanding.”
