Auxiliary For Blind

The voluntary work of auxiliary members to the

Christchurch branch of the New Zealand Foundation for the Blind, represented a vital and integral part of the service to the blind of Christchurch. Mr I. D. Wood, chairman of the Christchurch branch’s advisory committee told auxiliary members on Saturday.

A large group of auxiliary members met at the headquarters of the Christchurch branch of the foundation in Bristol Street for their annual meeting with the staff and management.

Certificates for long and sustained service awarded by the chairman and the board of trustees, were presented to Mesdames G. Sedley-Wells and Mrs D. Hollander by Mr Wood. Entertainment during the afternoon included songs by Mr G. Wyberg accompanied by Mrs N. Ferris, Scottish dancing by Miss J. Burrowes, accompanied by her brother Pipe Major G. Burrowes, and vocal solos by Miss M. Donaldson accompanied by Mrs M. Waterson. The guests were welcomed by the branch manager (Mr G. F. C. Ashdowne) and Mrs Ashdowne.
