Team To Play West Indies

Three Canterbury fast bowlers who enjoyed particular success in the recent Rothmans under-23 tournament have been included in the South Island team to play the West Indies at Dunedin, beginning on Saturday.

There are five changes in the team which played so successfully against the North Island at New Plymouth, but if some of the newcomers are in the nature of experiments, some may be replacements for players not available for

this first match of the West Indies tour.

The newcomers are the pace bowlers D. R. Hadlee, A. R. Hounsell and D. G. Trist, the batsman (and presumably wicket-keeper), K. J. Wadsworth, and the former Auckland and New Zealand opening batsman, T. W.- Jarvis. The team is:—

B. F. Hastings (Canterbury, captain), G. D. Alabaster (Otago), J. W. Burtt (Canterbury), B. E. Congdon (Nelson), D. R. Hadlee (Canterbury), A. R. Hounsell (Canterbury), T. W. Jarvis (Canterbury) J. M. McIntyre (Canterbury). D. G Trist (Canterbury). G. M. Turner (Otago), K. J. Wadsworth (Nelson), R. w. Hutchinson (Otago) twelfth man.
