RECORD SPOILT
(From Our Tennis Reporter) AUCKLAND.
The Auckland crowds at the New Zealand open tennis tournament have been wonderfully enthusiastic, patient when waiting for rain to stop, well-hehaved except perhaps for too much movement in the stands during points, but the record was spoilt badly by two small boys yesterday. A. D. Boche gaped in amazement as one boy left his place on the grass inside the stand and preferred an autograph book to him by the umpire’s stand during the change-over between games. R. A. Laver was the gaper, later when he was down 0-30 in the very last game and waiting to receive service.
A boy entered one of the gates to the stadium and ran round the back of the court behind him to sit on the grass at the side.
