CONDITIONS FOR CUP

(N.Z, Press Association) WELLINGTON. Confusion over the qualifying conditions for the >31,000 Wellington Cup later this month is causing concern to the Wellington Racing Club. A spokesman for the club said the stakes qualification for the cup allows horses which have won a single stake to the value of >l5OO in the North Island or tIOOO in the South Island at the time of acceptance to start. This can be a winning stake, or a place stake in any openclass race other than a highweight If a horse has not won this amount in one race, all stakes won in open company, other than high-weights, can be counted and horses which have won >3OOO can accept.
