Parliament’s Diary

The Limitation for Debt Limitation Bill, the last of the session, was introduced and read a first time when Parliament resumed yesterday afternoon. It was given a pro forma second reading and referred to the Statutes Revision Committee for study during recess. Notice of the Royal Assent to 17 bills was given. Ministers answered 13 questions.

Urgency was then taken on the remaining stages of 20 bills. Those passed through all stages included: Motor Spirits Distribution Amendment Bill, Ombudsman Amendment Bill, Protection of Depositors Bill, Hydatids Bill, Transport Amendment Bill, Reserve Bank Bill, Society of Accountants Amendment Bill, Customs Acts Amendment Bill, Waikato Valley Amendment Bill, Civil Defence Amendment Bill, Litter Bill, Local Authorities (Members’ Interests) Bill, Gaming Amendment Bill (No. 2), National Parks Amendment Bill, Land Settlement Amendment Bill, Harbours Amendment Bill, Ports Authority Bill, Customs Orders Confirmation Bill, and Consumer Protection Bill.

Having passed these measures, the House spent the evening discussing the third reading of the Appropriation Bill (No. 2), which completed the order paper.
