NAMES NOT ‘LOST’
Servicemen Overseas (N.Z. Press .Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 17. The Army had not “lost" the names of any servicemen in its computer, an Army spokesman said today. Within 90 seconds the department could supply full details of any individual serving overseas, he said, commenting on suggestions made at a Dunedin Returned Servicemen's Association meeting last night that the Army did not know who it had in Vietnam. Under the present documentation system, the Army would have to go through the files of 5000 servicemen to provide the Dunedin R.S.A. with the names and details of Otago men serving overseas. The computer would readily meet such a. request. It [would be operating early next year.
