REFUGEE AT EMBASSY
Greek Seeking Asylum I (N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) STOCKHOLM, Dec. 18. ! A Greek political refugee, IMr Pantelis Marketakis, hunted by Swedish and Norwegian police since Monday, is at the Greek Embassy in i Stockholm, the Swedish Foreign Ministry said today. The Ministry said the Embassy Charge d’Affaires. Mr Dimitri Franzeskakis, had telephoned the information late last night. ' The Embassy had earlier denied any knowledge of Mr Marketakis. Mr Marketakis, aged 35, who sought asylum in Scandinavia after saying that the Athens military regime had tortured him, disappeared on Monday night while travelling from Oslo to Stockholm. Last month Mr Marketakis and another Greek, Mr Konstantinos Meletis, testified before the Human Rights Commission in Strasbourg that they had been tortured by the Greek authorities. Both sought asylum in Norway, where Mr Marketakis was recently treated in hospital.
Execution Delayed. An Illinois Supreme Court judge has delayed the execution of Richard Speck, the killer of eight student nurses in Chicago two years and a half ago, who was to have gone to the electric chair on January 31. An appeal on Speck’s behalf is to be made to the Supreme Court.—Chicago, Dec. 18.
