If Tulsa races up to his performance at the Gore trials he will set the novices a merry chase in the Welcome Handicap the first leg of the oncourse double at the Invercargill Trotting Club’s twilight meeting today. Tulsa should get some reward for his experience at the Wairio meeting at his first start for the season when he was first home after being in front throughout but was then relegated to third. Upper Class, to be driven by K. Balloch, should -win the second leg of the on-course double, the Avenal Handicap. He was a winner at Wyndham last month at his only start to date. Spandau, in the Invercargill Handicap, and Blonde Sister, in the Christmas Free-for-ali, will be a strongly fancied T*A.B. double combination. however, look open and betting is certain to be widely spread. Spandau is a Christchurch visitor which has shown sorile ability as a sprinter. He is down to contest two sprint races today and will be attempting to qualify for the Southland Free-for-all on the second day. Spandau will be assured of plenty of opposition from Jimmy Tryax, which will be attempting his third successive win. Other form runners are Cardinal Hanover and Solomop. D. M.
