OPPOSITION EXPECTED
Scenic Work At Taupo [ (N.Z. Press Association) ROTORUA, December 17. There would be a certain amount of adverse public reaction in the early stages of the scenic preservation work of the Taupo Basin Co-ordin-ating Committee, Mr A. P. ! Thomson, Assistant Director--General of Forestry, said at ! the committee’s inaugural : meeting at Turangi yesterday. Making a plea for good public relations and patience, Mr ; Thomson said burning off and the building of access roads would mean an interim “state of ugliness." “But the outcome of the proposals will be a beautiful forest that will be omamen- : tai as well as useful,” he said.
