Council Asks For Opinion On Gorse
The possibility of erosion taking place if gorse is removed from land above house sections in Port Hills Road was referred to in a report from the works committee to the Heathcote County Council last evening.
The noxious weeds inspector (Mr H. W. Fawcett) had asked for directions about gorse on the boundary of land owned by McSkimming’s Industries, Ltd. The council agreed to ask the North Canterbury Catchment Board to give it a report
on the advisability of clearing the weeds. Denied.—Liability by the council was denied when it refused to meet a claim by Mr W. Corkindale for S4OO, as half the cost of drainage done to a house damaged in (the April storm.
