YALDHURST ROAD
Petition On Speed Limit LFrom Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, Dec. 17. The provision of a speed limit of 30 miles an hour in Yaldhurst Road from Racecourse Road to Russley Road was sought in a petition presented to the Minister of Transport (Mr Gordon) today by Mr M. A. Connelly (Lab., Riccarton). The petition also asked for the provision of a pedestrian crossing west of Carmen Road on Yaldhurst Road. Signed by 94 residents of Yaldhurst Road, Carmen Road, Rosella Street, Masham Road, Beilina Place and Coronado Place, the petition was started by the president of the Russley School Parent-Teacher Association (Mrs E. T. Shaw). “We ask this primarily as a protection for our children, who must either cross Yaldhurst Road to attend primary school, or cycle along it to attend secondary school; and also as a safety measure for residents, who must cross the road for all services of shops, bus, public telephone and church,” the petition says.
