It Could Have Been Closer

'TECHNICAL scored its twelfth successive win in the Pat Booth Memorial Shield meeting at Rugby Park last Saturday, and deservedly so. However, there was plenty to suggest that the club’s long reign might be coming to an end.

Toe H got within five points of Technical this time and would probably have drawn the contest had the rules been interpreted differently. Toe H attempted to enter its all-

rounder, K. Simpson, In the senior 100yds on the day but this was rejected. As it turned out, Simpson would have won the event comfortably. He is capable of running the distance in lOsec and the event was won in 10.5 sec by R. King (New Brighton).

Once again it was Technical’s extremely strong women’s section that brought in most of its points.
