Drawn Game In Water Polo
The joint competition leader, University, was lucky to draw with the lowly-rated Elmwood in a senior water polo match last evening
A penalty close to full-time took the score to 3-3. Results:— University 3 (E. L. Gunthorp 2, 1. H. MacDonald). Elmwood 3 (P. G. Hay 2, M.
J. Hay); Beckenham 14 (B. M. Mustchin 7, G. Williams 2, D. Gash 2, F. McKenzie, M. C. Scott, L. Scott); Services 2 (G. Neary 2). Wharenui 5 (T. M. McGirr 3, R. A. Leach, P. Carpinter); Christchurch 3 (J. Turpin 2, N. Lanyon), Jellie Park 3 (R. Pirie, P. Skurge 2), Services 1 (G. Neary). With too many changes of players University was un-| able to settle down and play constructively in its match with Elmwood. Hasty shooting for goal and some unusually poor passes resulted in a lot of wasted possession. The outstanding player in Beckenham’s encounter with Services was the Canterbury representative, M. C. Scott, who sacrificed several personal goals in his efforts to control play and place his team-mates for better shots. Wharenui maintained its unbeaten record but showed several weaknesses. The twogoal margin was made up of two penalties to McGirr. Other results: Senior Reserve. —Spreydon 5.
