£100,000 Haul In London
(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON, December 16. Thieves escaped with gold and silver worth £lOO,OOO after burning their way into the strongroom of a London firm of silversmiths during the night. Using a thermal lance, the gang burned through a 3in thick strongroom door and then through the door of a safe to reach sheets, ingots and granules of the precious metals. The police say the gang also took a fine balance valued at £lOOO, possibly to weigh out and divide the spoils.
