On the local scene, while national programmes may come and go, Town and Around goes on forever. It has built up a good team of reporters and organisers, and its only major shortcoming has been an understandable dilemma of selection. Its producer must start each week with his mind in a whirl trying to choose between dozens of possibilities. A magazine programme like Town and Around must inevitably seem patchy.
