Arthur’s Pass House Sold
An alpine chalet style holiday home on the main West Coast Road at Arthur’s Pass was sold on Saturday for $BOOO at a public auction conducted by Wood and Cathcart, Ltd. The house, which comprises a spacious lounge with a feature stone fireplace, two double bedrooms and a modern kitchen, has a Government valuation of $5lOO. It was sold fully furnished. A one-storey and a half concrete house with three double bedrooms at 121 A Glandovey Road, which was offered for sale by public auction on Saturday by the same firm, was passed in f or $13,750. The house is on a section of 22 perches. Period furniture from the house at Glandovey Road was sold. This included a mahogany Queen Anne style sideboard with hand - carved scrolls, a full iron frame piano, a hand carved walnut rug box, a cabriole leg hall table and a seven-piece walnut dining suite. A four-bedroomed seaside house built on two levels at Waikuku Beach was passed in for $4400 when it was offered for sale by public auction on Saturday by Whittle, Knight and Boatwood, Ltd. The house, which is on a section of 17.5 perches, has a Government valuation of $5900.
