Pay Rise For Carpenters

(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 12. Carpenters and joiners have received increases in their i minimum wage rates in a new award issued by the Court of Arbitration. The increases range from 35c a week to 81.30, depending on qualifications held by the workers. The minimum rate for a carpenter or joiner holding an advanced trade certificate is now $40.40 a week. The tool allowance has been increased from 1.7 c to; 2c an hour. The wage increases, which apply to all carpenters, join-: ers. and joiners’ machinists: in New Zealand, are effective from November 7, 1968.
