; Increase Held ■I Impossible i Because of increased costs rof heating, lighting and water, it had not been possible to increase grants to school :committees for general incidental expenditure, the Canterbury Education Board was told at its meeting yesterday. The rate for the per capita (grant would not be sufficient (to meet actual costs to school committees for heating, lighting and water expenditure, the finance committee reported. Increased electricity charges and additional rates for water were contributing factors. Additional amenities I being incorporated into buildings and the running of filtration plants during the swimming season had affected electricity costs, i A substantial part of the incidental fund was being used for heating, lighting and water. It was therefore not [possible to increase grants.
