POST OFFICE NEW AUTOMATIC TELEPHONE EXCHANGES LEESTON, IRWELL and SPRINGSTON New automatic telephone exchanges will be brought into service at 3.15 p.m. on Tuesday, December 17, 1968. All existing and new subscribers who will be served by the new exchanges will receive a copy of the local directory prior to the cut-over. Subscribers should use their automatic telephones from 3.20 p.m. on the day of opening. Those who have a switch installed should operate it at 3.15 p.m. or before leaving if they will be absent at the time. Also subscribers must remember to lift the telephone handset before dialling the required numbers.
