Motor trade representatives in Auckland tonight welcomed the Government decision to lift import restrictions on c.k.d. commercial vehicles from July, Its greatest effect, they said, would be to make a much wider choice of vehicles available to the public —providing it included small trucks and vans. The chairman of the new vehicles section of the Auckland branch of the Retail Motor Trade Association (Mr C. J. Emery) said heavy commercial vehicles, of seven tons or more, had been free of import licensing for some years.
