Dried Apricots Plentiful

(By Our Grocery Reporter) Present indications are that a good pack of dried apricots can be expected. As long as the weather is favourable to growers the packers should be able to provide all the fruit neded. Supplies of the new season’s apricots are expected to

be available for delivery about the first week in February. The pack of dried peaches is expected to provide packers with good quantities for the coming season. Hamburger Sauce.—This product, manufactured by GolcrumHayward, Ltd, has become a popular line in the trade. Packed in lOoz and 20oz bottles, hamburger sauce has suggested retail prices of 26c and 38c respectively. Diced Paw Paw.—Packed under Curry’s label, this product is selling well. Many grocers have asked for repeat orders only a few days after receiving first deliveries. The 16oz can has a suggested retail price of 36c. Pipe Tobacco.—W. D. and H. O. Wills <N.Z.), Ltd, has announced the release of Benson and Hedges flake cut pipe tobacco. It is a medium dark aromatic tobacco packed in a 2oz vacuum sealed tin. The suggested retail price is 72c. Packaged Lunch Bags.—U.E.B. Packaging, Ltd, has produced packaged paper lunch bags. They are known as papercraft handybags and are packed in twenties. The suggested retail price is 13c a packet. Prepackaged Flour. —The Canterbury Master Grocers’ Association has received many inquiries about the retail price of 31b and 61b lots of prepackaged flour supplied by some mills. The association says that the price order provides that the retail price shall be computed as if the retailer had packaged the quantities himself from purchases of flour in bulk 1601 b sacks. Prices of the 31b and 61b lots therefore should be 16c and 31c respectively.
