Frigate Due In 1972

(N.Z. Press dissociation) WELLINGTON, Dec. 13. The fourth New Zealand frigate, Canterbury, would be delivered to New Zealand in May, 1972, the Minister of Defence (Mr Thomson) said in Parliament today. He had been asked by Mr G. F. Gair (Nat., North Shore) when the frigate would be launched, commissioned and delivered to New Zealand. Mr Thomson said building was proceeding to plan, and the frigate was due to be launched in May, 1970, commissioned in November, 1971, and delivered in May, 1972. When the Canterbury was delivered, the frigate, Blackpool, on lease from Britain, would be returned.
