UNREST IN ITALY
Examinations Postponed (N .Z .P .A .-Reuter—Cdpyright) ROME, November 12. About 250 students on Monday occupied the teaching faculty of Rome University as Italy’s nation-wide wave of student protest spread even to illiterate schoolchildren in backward Sardinia. While students in Rome were protesting against the system of entrance examinations to join the faculty, schoolchildren and villagers of Orgosolo, central Sardinia, were demonstrating about continued illiteracy in the area.
In Rome, police surrounded the faculty building as students barred the doors. The authorities postponed examinations due to begin on Tuesday. In Bologna, about 5000 students broke into groups and marched on the city’s high schools. In clashes with police four students and three policemen were taken to hospital and three students were arrested.
