MATHEMATIC SYLLABUS
Introduction By 1970 (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Nov. 13. A syllabus in mathematics for Forms 1 to 4 is expected to be introduced in 1970, according to the Acting Minister of Education (Mr AdamsSchneider). He had been asked in a written question in Parliament today by Mr J. L. Hunt (Lab., New Lynn) for an assurance that all secondary schools would be teaching the “new” mathematics in 1970 in the third form, and in 1971 in the third and fourth forms. Mr Adams-Schneider said the expected introduction of a new mathematics syllabus meant that third-form pupils would make a beginning in “new” mathematics in 1970, and fourth-form pupils in 1971.
