Antipodes Expedition
University of Canterbury zoology department technicians are shown making a trial assembly of a sectional hut to be used by the 1969 expedition to the Antipodes Islands.
The party, which will leave from Lyttelton aboard H.M.N.Z.S. Endeavour, will include three D.S.I.R. scientists, one officer from the wildlife branch of the Internal Affairs Department, and a Marine Department man. It will leave on January 3 and will return on March' 4. The hut, made from mate-
rials given by the Fletcher Construction Company, Ltd, measures 20ft x 12ft and will serve as the expedition’s laboratory. The party of eight will sleep in tents.
