Applications are therefore invited for the position of SYSTEMS PROGRAMMER

Candidates should have a University Degree, preferably in Mathematics, and a thorough working knowledge of a programming language. e.g. FORTRAN. A knowledge of an operating system and the 1.8. M. System 360 computer would also be an advantage. The duties will mainly consist of assisting with courses in programming languages, particularly FORTRAN and PL/1, advising staff and students on using the available facilities, and generally assisting with the day to day operation of the Computing 'Centre. Salary and status will be equivalent to that of Assistant Lecturer, the salary range of which is currently $2400 —$2800. and an increase, effective April 1. 1969. was recently announced. TEMPORARY LECTURER OF JUNIOR LECTURER IN BOTANY I The Council of. Victoria Uni versity of Wellington proposes to appoint a temporary Lee • turer or Junior Lecturer in Botany for the period February 1. 1969, to December 31, 1969, or such shorter period as may be arranged. The appointee will be expected to be able to participate in the first-year practical course in General Botany, and to contribute to more advanced courses according to his qualifications.
