EXPORT GAIN
Secondary Industry
(N.Z. Press WELLINGTON, Nov. 8. Secondary industry export receipts had increased $26.7m, or 66.9 per cent, for the year ending in September, the Minister of Finance (Mr Muldoon) told Parliament. Replying to a question from Mr R. L. G. Talbot (Nat, Ashburton), Mr Muldoon said that, although the increase represented a relatively small part of total export proceeds, it was encouraging to find such a healthy increase. The rise in secondary industry exports from the preceding year had been $5.4m, or 15.7 per cent. Mr Muldoon sa'd that nothing that resulted from a devaluation of 20 per cent could induce an increase in exports of 66.9 per cent, and that other factors as well as devaluation had brought the increase.
