No Sirens For Police Cars

WELLINGTON, Nov. 7. There were no plans for police cars to be fitted with sirens, the Minister in Charge of Police (Mr Allen) said in Parliament today in response to a question from Mr P. Blanchfield (Lab., Westland). Mr Allen said several audible warning devices, including sirens, had been tested, but none had been found which could be heard by other road-users under all conditions.
