SHOW OF POWER
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright) MOSCOW, Nov. 8.
The Soviet Union paraded its massive rocket power through Red Square yesterday to mark the fifty-first anniversary of the Bolshevik Revolution.
The parade was boycotted by ambassadors from N.A.T.O. countries in protest against the invasion of Czechoslovakia, but two members of the presidium of the Czechoslovak Communist Party were on the viewing stand. Before the 45-minute military parade, the Defence Minister (Marshal Andrei Grechko) said that imperialist forces were threatening a new world war, and warned that Soviet military might was being increased. One float carried a huge cartoon of a spider marked “C.1.A.,” spinning a web labelled “Provocations,” “Subversion,” and “Anti-Soviet-ism.” A slogan carried in the crowd said: "Down with Israeli aggression.”
