‘BLACK HOUSE’
Gregory’s Plan
(A'Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) NEW YORK, Nov. 7.
In Chicago, the comedian, Mr Dick Gregory, today declared himself “write-in President in exile” and said he would set up head quarters in Washington to be known as “The Black House.”
The Negro independent candidate, who made a hopeless bid for the Presidency, told a rally of his supporters in a hotel their votes for him had not been in vain.
“I, too, am going to Washington, where I will serve as the representative of all those people who do not feel that, whatever Government is elected, they are represented adequately,” he said. “I intend to open headquarters in Washington and to paint it black and call it the ‘Black House.’ “From there I will begin to deal with all those problems which the independent and unrepresented have not been able to get the official President to listen to.” Mr Gregory said he would hold his inauguration in Washington on March 4.
