Lotus Public Company
Group Lotus Car Companies, Ltd, is to become a public company and will seek quotation on the London Stock Exchange. Mr C. Chapman, the chairman of the group, wil retain 50 per cent of the issued share capital and 35 per cent will be offered to the public. Team Lotus, responsible for Lotus participation in motor racing, has not been included in the group because of the financial risks involved. Lotus has grown from a small engineering concern to a group of companies which makes 70 cars a week. From producing racing cars based on production cars it has blossomed into an organisation which manufactures three of the sleekest - specialist sports cars in the world, the ■ Elan, Elan plus 2 and the Europa.
