Vegetable And Fruit Prices

Prices for a number of vegetables continued to ease at the Christchurch produce markets yesterday. Notable exceptions were onions, which sold to $6.50 a bag, an increase of $1.50 on the price last Thursday, and last season's carrots which were 50 cents dearer at up to $4.50 a case. Cabbages, which sold at $2 a case last Thursday, were 50 cents cheaper yesterday, and beetroot was down from $1 a case to 30 cents a case. Silver beer selling to $1.20 a case and cauliflowers selling to $2,60 a Case were both lower by 20 cents. Strawberries sold to 38 cents a punnet, and grapefruit from $2.25 to $3.50 a case.
