N.Z. IND. GASES HAS SLIGHT PROFIT FALL
(New Zealand Pres* Association) WELLINGTON, November 7. The group net profit of New Zealand Industrial Gases, Ltd, Wellington, fell $8290 —or 1.6 per cent—to $495,010 in the year to September 30,1968, directors announced in a preliminary statement.
The profit figure, subject to audit, compares with $503,300 in 1967 and $558,000 in 1966. The company made a one for two bonus issue in June. As announced, directors are recomending a final ordinary dividend of 5 per cent, making 8 per cent for the year. Last year a 10 per cent dividend was paid. The dividend will be paid on issue capital increased as a result of the bonus issue. In addition the company will be paying a final preference dividend of 2} per cent
In the preliminary statement the directors indicate that $71,434 has been set aside as provision for taxation on the bonus issue. Unappropriated profit of the parent company carried forward will be $269,266 (last year $305,490). The ordinary payout will require $240,000 (last year $220,000), and the preference dividend $19,800.
